What’s it all about?

Open to all ages, Tai Chi and Qigong can be practiced almost anywhere. No equipment required, just comfortable clothing and flat shoes (like plimsolls). Ged is an accredited Tai Chi instructor and provides classes to beginners and improvers.

“I’m evangelical about building awareness of Tai Chi & Qigong, and improving access to good quality teaching in the local area.”

Calm the Mind

A fluid, nearly effortless form of exercise, designed to relax the body and calm the mind. It contradicts modern expectations that exercise should be high energy, high impact and require copious quantities of perspiration. To paraphrase current fitness parlance, ‘Don’t expect to feel the burn!’

But do expect to strengthen your core, improve your balance, better your co-ordination and calm the mind.

Relieve Stress, improve your balance and co-ordination

Tai Chi ‘forms’ (or Qigong sets) target and provide stress relief, muscular toning, flexibility, co-ordination and balance. The routines though relaxed are challenging to learn and master but from an early stage, when performed slowly, can be wonderfully energising.

Originally, Tai Chi was meant to be practised as a martial art. Today, it’s roots are still apparent as its practice targets your all round physical, psychological and emotional well being. It has been described as meditation in motion as it promotes calmness and clarity through a series of gentle movements, connecting body and mind.

Have Fun

Classes are also about having fun, being relaxed and not having to worry about being good it something. Everyone is different and so it lends itself to each person progressing at a pace of their own. And don’t forget, we socialise as well! Meet enthusiastic people with a similar outlook that says ‘let’s just get on with each other and life, and see how it works out’. No pressure, no tests, just keeping at it and keep making friends.
