Getting back to normal…
With everything that’s been happening the White Crane Bamboo Club finally held its first Tai Chi seminar this year in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.
These are normally regular events with two or three seminars each year. It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been a year since Faye Li Yip came to Rickmansworth to teach the seminar on the Yi Jn Jing Qigong set.
Memories of the success of last year’s event meant there was still a real appetite to do something, and when David Hackett proposed taster classes for the Kung Fu Fan form and Yang 13 Step Sabre form there was immediate interest.
This year David extended the invitation to students outside the White Crane Bamboo club, and so we saw five members of the Laughing Monk Tai Chi club attend for the first time.
Being a founder member club in the International Taiji & Qigong Federation, there is now an appetite to extend invitations to future seminars for members of the Federation.
David followed the usual format with morning and afternoon sessions. Regular breaks and an hour for lunch helped to maintain energy levels, plus the students also had time to socialise and get to know each other.
In reality, allowing a half day for each of the Fan and Sabre forms is clearly insufficient. But with the (often) busy lives that we lead, to have a chance of briefly experiencing these forms is still a real ‘eye-opener’ and whets the appetite for more.
All in all, David presented, both an event and quality of teaching, that left students excited at the prospect of future events.
Well done David, and looking forward to next year.
